Frequently asked questions.

General.

What kind of products do you sell?

I create and sell a variety of stationary items featuring my original artwork, including stickers, greeting cards, bookmarks, and art prints.

Which suppliers do you use?

For stickers, I predominantly use StickerApp as I like their quality and they seem to be a good business. It also doesn’t hurt that one of their headquarters is in Sweden and my husband’s family has Swedish ancestry.

For greeting cards, I have tested out a mixture of suppliers and am continuing to look for those who fit my quality standards. I do currently order paper from Red River and LCI to print a lot of my designs in my home studio. For other designs, I use Jukebox since they have a good range of options and I appreciate their commitment to quality & sustainability.

For packaging, I mainly use EcoEnclose as they offer a lot of great eco-friendly options.

I’m always looking for great supplier options and alternatives, especially if it’s a smaller business or regionally close to Arkansas, so if you’re a supplier that would like to reach out, feel free to contact me!

Which are your favorite greeting card businesses?

I’ve always been a fan of Papyrus because they make such elegant cards. Other greeting card businesses I like are Jess A Little Creative (great for anyone in the UK), Potty Mouth Press (for simple, inappropriate designs), as well as Mejiro Graphics in Sherman, Texas. And, of course, who doesn’t love a good letter-pressed card from Huckleberry?

Was your logo inspired by the Hummingbird from Papyrus?

Actually, no! The moth was inspired by my niece (born right around the time as my idea for Critter Kin began) and her namesake. However, the greeting card sticker seals were definitely inspired by the gold seals from Papyrus. I mean, you can’t beat a good idea!

What serves as inspiration for your work?

My work is predominantly inspired by my love for nature & the universe. I love all critters, as I sometimes have an easier time connecting with them than people. Personally, I believe in the connection of all things; thus, I like to respect the world and all creatures in it. This is partly why I believe in thinking deeply about creating self-sustaining systems to balance the wastefulness created by modern-day society. As individuals, we can only to so much, but as groups we can do a lot more to promote the care for this Earth.

My husband also serves as inspiration for a lot of my designs, since he sometimes draws me cards for my birthday or leaves me little notes. I end up loving them so much I often decide to create a copy of the design to share with others.

What kind of paper are your greeting cards printed on?

A variety of papers! I base the paper and supplier choice on the design itself. Overall, I try to choose good-quality paper that makes sense with a given design and ensures writability on the interior. Some designs are printed on recycled paper, which will contain tiny specks.

Are your stickers waterproof?

Currently, we use StickerApp for most of our stickers. Most of their materials are considered to be weather-resistant, meaning they are pretty durable for indoor and outdoor use. They should also be safe to use on any items place in the dishwasher. You can read more here.

Are the designs original?

Absolutely! All designs are original artwork created by me. I sometimes use the generative AI tool on Adobe Illustrator to generate a design for reference (not always useful) or search for reference photos online. However, all designs are created digitally by hand using Procreate and/or Adobe Illustrator. I also paint by hand and digitize for quality.

Can I request a custom design?

It depends. If you are an individual who has a cool idea for a design you’d like to see in my shop, then feel free to contact me with the idea. However, I do not fulfill individual custom requests with any personal information (e.g., initials, names, date, etc.) at this time.

If you represent a business that would like a custom design, then please contact me for more information.

On the rare occasion, I might be able to complete a commission for original artwork. Just keep in mind that originals tend to be more expensive, especially if its a custom requested piece.
