Humans should be caretakers of the earth and hope to foster a sustainable community, one thoughtful choice at a time. Ultimately, the circular nature of life shows us that creating unifying systems that incorporate all aspects of something’s life, including the end, help to sustain the system.

Business practices can do this thinking about a product’s life, from conception to its end. One human can only do so much to promote sustainability in our societal systems, but together we can build a community and culture inspired by the wisdom of Nature.

For this reason, Critter Kin is committed to prioritizing eco-friendly products, packaging, recycled materials, and responsible sourcing whenever possible.

Why sustainability still matters

Practices & Goals.

Not only do we try to encourage recycling of our packaging & products, but we carefully choose these items to reduce waste. Some choices we make are to use recycled paper, implement minimal or recyclable packaging design, and looking for suppliers that care about the environment too.

Here are a few specifics of what we do:

  • Use vellum, glassine, or kraft paper for our product packaging, instead of plastic sleeves or pouches.

  • Use fully recyclable or compostable packaging for shipping

  • Encourage recycling of packaging materials and stationary items

  • In-house printing of newer designs, so as to be able to reduce waste

However, as a small business just starting out, only so much can be done at this stage. We have many goals towards sustainability and a long way to go in becoming an environment-protecting, circular business.

Here are just a few of our goals:

  • Find & use FSC-certified paper suppliers only

  • Work with suppliers closer to our business location

  • Use environmentally-friendly printing techniques such as using mostly recycled paper and eco-friendly inks for items

  • Develop an end-of-life recycling program for our products
